Use care getting in and out of library parking lot

Commentary by Frank Schroth

There was another accident in the vicinity of the entrance to the Milton Public Library last Wednesday. Any accident is a bad accident. This would the the 7th accident in that spot we are aware of. Please use care.

The issue is the two lanes coming eastbound down Canton toward Reedsdale. Cars will stop to let a another car turning left into the lot proceed. Another car (usually going too fast) will come down the the right most lane and because sight lines are poor, bang.

You’ll note that the DPW have put lines on the road to removing the right lane and steering (no pun intended) drivers to the left lane as they come down Canton Avenue. Anecdotal evidence suggests that drivers are observing that during the day; but ignoring it during rush hour periods.

Local drivers who frequent the library during busy traffic periods may want to consider alternative routes that remove need to make that left into the lot.
