South Shore Conservatory (SSC) has extended audition opportunities for students interested in participating in the Bay Youth Symphony (BaYS) for the 2011-2012 season. Auditions take place on Wednesdays, by appointment, throughout the month of September, beginning September 7, at SSC’s Duxbury campus at the Ellison Center for the Arts, 64 St. George Street.
An auditioned, sequential youth orchestra program, BaYS offers dedicated and talented young musicians, residing throughout Southeastern Massachusetts, the opportunity to perform symphonic music at a high level in a well-organized, supportive orchestra program. In partnership with the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra, the program offers ensembles at three levels: Dolce Strings, Sinfonia and Symphony. Currently there are openings for musicians in both Sinfonia, conducted by Nicholas Tatarka, and Symphony, conducted by new BaYS Music Director, Jonathan Lam. No audition is necessary for Dolce Strings.
For more information, or to schedule an audition, visit the BaYS website at www.sscmusic.org/orchestra.html, or contact Candace Kniffen, Program Manager, at 781-749-7565, ext. 32, or c.kniffen@sscmusic.org.
