It’s Farmers’ Market week! Go to Wharf Street!

The Patrick Administration has proclaimed this Farmers’ Market Week and it is a good time to introduce yourself to (or go back to) the Milton Farmers’ Market which takes place every Thursday from 1:00 – 6:00 down on Wharf Street in Milton Village.

It is a small but robust affair offering cheeses, organic produce, breads, seafood, and more. If you bike over (wearing a helmet) you can get a coupon – good deal.

To quote from the state house press release :

Farmers’ markets “create a festive open air setting which enhances community spirit and civic pride by offering a natural place for community gathering,” according to the proclamation, which also says markets, “help heighten public awareness of the agricultural diversity of Massachusetts and the benefits of buying local and preserving open space.”

There is a nifty map of Farmers Markets in Massachusetts which can be found here. And you can find the home pace of “Mass grown” here which is a state web site with good info on local food and agriculture.
