DCR Extends Hours for Pools and Beaches incl Houghton’s Pond

WHAT: In response to this week’s heat wave, Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) Commissioner Edward M. Lambert Jr. is announcing extended hours and lifeguard services at various DCR beaches and pools.

Extended hours at all facilities are based on staff availability. Please check DCR’s website
before making plans: www.mass.gov/dcr/recreate/extendedguard.pdf.

Additional lifeguard coverage will be available at the following DCR waterfronts for Friday, July 22 and in some areas on Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24. As additional coverage is available our website will have updated information.

Pools with extended hours until 8 p.m. Friday include Chelsea’s Pool, Everett’s Allied
Veteran’s Pool, Malden’s Holland Pool and Melrose’s Llyod Pool. Freetown’s Wading Pool
will remain open until 7 p.m. Friday. Pools with extended hours until 8 p.m. Saturday
include Chelsea’s Pool, Everett’s Allied Veteran’s Pool, Melrose’s Llyod Pool, Melnea A.
Cass Pool, Olsen Pool, and Ryan Wading Pool. Freetown’s Wading Pool will remain open
until 7 p.m. Saturday.

Open until 7 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday:

Carol Holmes State Park’s Lake Wyola Beach
Chicopee State Park Beach
Quinsigamond State Park’s Regatta Point Beach
Goshen’s DAR Day Use Beach
Concord’s Walden Pond – Main Beach
Salisbury’s Reservation Beach and Center Beach
Mashpee’s South Cape Beach
Plymouth’s Scusset Beach and College Pond at Miles Standish State Forest
Fairhaven’s Fort Phoenix Beach
Open until 7:30 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday:
Erving State Forest’s Laurel Lake Beach will remain open
Open until 7 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday:

Leominster State Forest’s Crow Hill Pond Beach
Open until 7 p.m. on Saturday:
