Governor Hutchinson Retreats from Milton to England – Again

The Forbes House Museum will continue its look back at Governor Hutchinson this fall with a re-enactment of his leaving Milton and cocktail reception at 88 Wharf Street.

The Forbes House recently hosted “Three Days, Three Viewpoints: The Worlds of Thomas Hutchinson.” You can find a Patriot Ledger article on that event here. The Forbes House will be staging what they describe as an “irreverent, but not-to-accurate re-enactment” of early Milton Hill resident, Governor Thomas Hutchinson’s departure from Milton. The event will include a fife and drum procession from Milton Hill down to Wharf Street. They will be accompanied by The Gardner Regiment of Charlestown which will fire off a musket salute upon his arrival. Friends and neighbors will gather on the terrace of 88 Wharf Street for a cup of “colonial grog” (or other beverage) and toast the Governor has he sets sail back to England. The event will take place September 25 from 4:00 – 6:00pm. The Forbes House hopes you will save the date and join them in the festivities.

Limited tickets to the Hutchinson Retreat at 88 Wharf Street Restaurant will include complimentary beer and wine, passed hors d’oeuvres.
