Artspace Milton fundraiser = Packed house

Last night Artspace Milton, a local non-profit startup, held a fundraiser at the First Parish Church and it was a loud, fun, full house.

Artspace Milton is an organization providing arts enrichment to the community. The foundation for the organization is FAVA which has a 7 year track record of delivering arts education in the elementary schools. The goal of Artspace Milton is to build on that foundation and expand the value of that program to people of all ages throughout the community.

The organization will be located at the East Milton Library on Edge Hill Road. Illustrations were on display showing concepts for how the space would be developed. The ground floor would be for art classes and workshops. The upper floor would be designed to be multi-purpose; gallery space, lectures, presentations etc.

Organizers, Karen Hainline and Janet Gilmore, were thrilled with the outpouring of support from the community. In a room pulsing with music, full of silent auction items, and a lively crowd, Hainline summed it up, “This is just fantastic, not just the financial support these people are giving us; but the enthusiasm for what we want to do.” What Artspace Milton wants to do was stated on the black T-shirts worn by the organizers and their volunteer staff: establish a place where people can “learn, create, and enjoy art.” Their goal is to begin offering courses in the fall of 2011.

(NOTE: Frank Schroth is on the board of Artspace Milton).
