The Forbes House Museum has upgraded its membership program, and will offer a special Local Family Membership for $40, a 20% discount off the regular price, for those residing within 10 miles of the Museum.

The special offer will run through 30 June 2011 as part of the Museum’s new Membership Month. New membership categories have also been added, including a new Senior and Student membership. The program also has a new name, The Friends of Forbes House Museum.

Friends of the Forbes House Museum receive free general admission, subscription to the new e-newsletter, The Captain’s Chop, and invitations to special events and programs throughout the year. As the months progress, the plan is to add more member benefits. Memberships can be purchased by check or credit card.

Forbes House Museum Offers Three Summer Teas on the Porch.

Three summer tea events will be held on the south porch at Forbes House Museum. Tea and pastry will be served from 2-4pm. Guests can enjoy lawn bowling (bocce), croquet and badminton or take a docent-led tour of the Museum. Tickets are $15.00 per person for adults; $35.00 per family of four. Reservations are required. June 12th – Our Membership Tea will include a ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the FHM carriage house and plank house, along with a viewing of some of the captain’s favorite items.

July 10th – Our Family Tea will feature children activities, games, Victorian crafts and origami.

August 21st – Our Ladies Tea will include a lesson in reverse glass painting and a best hat contest!
