Mtg notes: Plan’g Brd 05.26.11 – 36 Central Ave and 683-685 Brush Hill Rd receive PB approval

Last Thursday night may have been the final session between Paul Sullivan, who has been representing Oranamore Construction the firm building 36 Central Ave, the Planning Board, and Margaret Sullivan, a neighbor who has been a frequent presence at the hearings on the building and spoken frequently and critically of the development.

Ms. Donovan was critical of the developers again last night, singling out Mr. Sullivan for failing to provide adequate notice of the street work that is taking place. K&K Construction was on site to hook up the building to sewer systems. It required a pit ~12 feet deep and closed off west bound traffic on Central Ave. Ms. Donovan claimed she received about 10 mins notice of the construction and that did not comply with the conditions of the special permit.  The board gently admonished Mr. Sullivan; PB member Jackson saying, “Courtesy demands better communication.” Mr. Sullivan apologized for the inconvenience caused and said he had only received notice last Sunday for work that was to begin that Monday.

The board reviewed the most recently submitted modified plans which accurately captured the work according to PB member Pete Jackson. Mr. Whiteside who was acting as chairman in Ms. Innes absence said that the special permit was ready to be acted on and congratulated all involved including the citizens.

However, a vote could not be taken as it required 4 votes to be approved and only three members were present. Ms Innes and Mr. Lynch were absent. Mr. Sullivan was a little concerned as there are closings scheduled for early July. Mr. Whiteside said a special meeting would be convened if necessary. Mr. Sullivan left.

And then Bernie Lynch showed up. With the necessary four votes present, Mr. Sullivan was called. He returned to the session and the permit was approved. Meanwhile, folks following the development could not help but notice that Ms. Donovan has put her house on the market.

The board also approved the development at 683-685 Brush Hill Road.

The additional pumps at the gas station at 310 Granite Avenue are not looking good. Board members are not convinced the space is there to install them.

The board next meets on June 9th.
