Milton Police Department/Board of Health Medicine and Sharps Disposal Day
When: Saturday, April 30, 2011
Where : Police Station, 40 Highland Street
Time: 10 am – 12pm
Why?
• Studies show that youth can begin a lifetime of drug addition
by simply opening up the home medicine cabinet.
•Proper disposal of substances are vital to protect human health and the
environment from the potential hazards of waste disposal.
•NEVER flush medicine down the toilet.
What is collected?
• Prescription medicines, over?the counter medicines, pet medication, and
vitamins (pills, capsules, liquids, inhalers, ointments, and/or patches).
• Sharps (syringes/needles).
• NO AEROSOLS will be collected.
You need to:
• Bring the medicine in the original container or in a zip?type bag.
• Blackout your name and prescription number.
• Bring sharps in a red biohazard container or other
sealed rigid plastic container with a secure cap.
At the event:
• Milton Police will be on?site to answer questions and take your
unwanted medication.
• You will be asked to take a short anonymous survey for the event.
This event is in collaboration with Impact Quincy, a program of Bay State
Community Service, Inc. through funding from the Massachusetts Department
of Public Health, Bureau of Substance Abuse Services.
