Mary Riffe Hiss Seeks Library Trustee Seat

I am running for Trustee to ensure that all residents have a Library connection. I work full time and have a Collicot second grader and two high school students, and am one of ~40% of Milton’s households with children <18 who are current and future Library users – and taxpayers. I advocate for:

  • Weekly library use by all residents
  • Age/gender specific reading groups and programs
  • Continued high quality adult programs
  • Appropriate incorporation of digital media and technology
  • Timely access to in demand materials
  • A Library strategic plan that meets Milton’s needs

My family and I are lifelong library users and I read at least a book per week. As a child, my town librarian helped me read through our collection to better understand the world.
I am currently the Director of Executive Compensation for Partners HealthCare System and have held eight other jobs in operations, finance, information technology, network development and human resources in my nearly 25 years of employment within the system.

The following volunteer service is evidence of my ability to lead community groups and keep commitments; Girl Scout troop leader, FHM adviser, Garden Club Publicity Chair, MFA docent, St. Michael’s member, and former Library Friends Treasurer.
I ask for the privilege to serve Milton as Library Trustee.
