Annual Black & Green event to feature panel discussion on “Resilience in the Face of Disaster”

Each year’s Black + Green event, hosted by the Irish International Immigrant Center and the Montserrat Aspirers, offers the opportunity to socialize with diverse new friends, enjoy music and a delicious Caribbean meal, and engage in discussion of a serious topic. The theme at his year’s 17th Annual “Black and Green in Boston” is Lessons about Hope: Resilience in the Face of Disaster.

Please join us March 6th as we hear from the following speakers about the human impact of four several disasters, community recovery and rebuilding efforts and the future outlook for each location:
– Gary Morton – 1995 Volcano in Montserrat
– Reverend Jeffrey Brown – 2005 Hurricane Katrina impact on New Orleans
– Dr. Nicole Prudent – 2010 Earthquake in Haiti
– Erin Fried – 2004 Tsunami impact on Aceh, Indonesia

Enjoy a delicious traditional Caribbean dinner and live entertainment courtesy of:
– The Contagious Band (Montserrat)
– Philip Klibansky, the Russian Piper (Irish piping)
– Violin Ensemble (Haiti youth performers of Youth and Family Enrichment Services)

A suggested donation of $10 is not required but appreciated.
Children under 12 years old are free!
