Tom Hurley is running for election to the Milton Board of Selectmen. He will be challenging Eddie Duffy, the only other announced candidate to date, for McEttrick’s seat. Chairman McEttrick is retiring at the end of her term.
Hurley is a lifelong resident of Milton who will be running on a platform of fiscal responsibility.
In a brief conversation this morning Mr. Hurley discussed his intent to run. He is currently serving his sixth year on the Warrant Committee. He was Chairman of that committee for two years and has a thorough knowledge of the town’s budget and finances. The Warrant Committee often serves as a springboard for elected public service. Emily Innes on the Planning Board and Glenn Pavlicek on the School Committee are just two officials who were Warrant Committee members.
Residents have until March 8th at 5:00pm to submit nomination papers. It is possible that additional candidates will emerge over the next several days.
Mr. Hurley is a CPA and a principal at Hurley, O’Neill & Co., an accounting firm in Quincy, MA. Mr. Hurley will be issuing a formal announcement shortly.
