The art reception yesterday at the library for students of FAVA yesterday was not your genteel art opening. It was busy, boisterous (they’re kids for cryin’ out loud), and fun.
The work was in a variety of media: drawing, watercolors, collages, dioramas, all of the above, etc. The work is imagination on display. And it reflects the studentss thoughts, feelings, and ideas in a channeled, creative way that is refreshing and has that disingenuous quality that only kids can bring to the table.
Downstairs FAVA was conducting a multimedia workshop on animation. Small teams of children were making small clay figures, paying special attention to the eyeballs. They planned to complete them and the result will coming soon to a screen near you.
The work is hanging in the Wotiz Gallery. Take a quiet moment to have a look.
