Your vote matters: Ballot Question 3 – Sales & Use Tax Rates

Ballot question 3 proposes a law which, if passed by the legislature, would roll back tax rates from 6.25% (which they were as of September 2009) to 3%. You can find a summary of the ballot question here. What impact would this have on Milton? Following are arguments for and against.

According to the opposition group, Vote No on Question 3.com, Milton stands to lose ~$1.9 in state aid to schools and town services. All the candidates for governor are opposed to a cut of 6.25%. Cahill and Baker recommend a rollback to 5%.

Proponents of the rollback, Vote YES on 3, argue that, among other benefits, rolling back taxes will create jobs.

Election day is November 2nd.
