Congressman Lynch has yet to take up Mac D’Allesandro’s invitation to join him in a series of debates.
D’Allesandro, a Milton resident, is challenging Congressman Lynch in the Democratic primary for the 9th Congressional District. Though both Democrats they differ on certain key issues, notablyy Health care and the war in Iraq. Lynch voted against the health care reform bill, a measure D’Allesandro supports. They also differ in their support for the war in Iraq. D’Allesandro has opposed the war and would not have voted in favor of continued funding which Lynch did.
D’Allesandro has said, “I’m proud of my record of fighting for working families and advocating for affordable, accessible health care, and I’m ready to defend that record and present my ideas for creating jobs and getting our economy moving again.
“It’s disappointing that Congressman Lynch is thus far unwilling to meet me in debate and defend his record, too.”
Lynch’s willingness to debate is not unique. It is not uncommon for incumbents to avoid debates with challengers.
