Lincoln Day at Forbes House Museum is postponed due to weather conditions! We regret to postpone the artist talk and demonstration with Lincoln portrait painter, Wendy Allen, and hope to reschedule for spring! Cheryl Tougias, an architect with 25 years of experience and a resident active in community affairs, is running for a seat on the Milton Planning Board. Tougias, who lives at 660 Canton Avenue, has filed papers with the Town Clerk to be placed on the April 28th town election ballot.

USE CAUTION…Much of the town is out of power along with many street lights. Some of the areas we have received calls on are Countryside Ln, SugarMaple Ln, MeetingHouse Ln, Governor Stoughton Ln, Canton Ave, and Curry College. Street lights that are out are Blue Hill Avenue/Robbins, Blue Hills Parkway/Canton Avenue, and Canton Avenue/Unquity Road. NSTAR has been notified and predict the power to be back on by 10:00 am. Please use caution and leave with plenty of time to get to your destination due to the traffic in town from the street lights being out and because it is snowing outside. Also, DPW is out sanding the roadways.

Get ready for Milton Reads 2015! The Big Reveal of the book selection for this town-wide reading program will take place on Thursday, February 12th. There will be plenty of time to check the book out of the library and to get ready for the Milton Reads programs, which take place during the month of March.

There is “No Parking” allowed over night at this time. PUBLIC Safety and the ability of emergency vehicles to be able to respond and operate is vital. This directive INCLUDES , ANY RESIDENT WHO HAS A “Hardship Permit.” The guidelines of the permit clearly define that the permit is “suspended” during emergency snow situations.. We know this is tough, but we have to exercise due caution.

At Ashmont Station in Dorchester Wednesday morning, some people were getting fed up with the public transit system’s inability to cope with the recent snow storms.

It’s great to be different! Riverside Theatre Works presents “Freckleface Strawberry,” a family-friendly musical about learning to love yourself. Based on the children’s book by actress Julianne Moore, the show features sweet songs, adorable dances, and family-friendly ticket prices.

John D. MacVarish III of Milton died peacefully February 2, at home, at age 91, after a brief illness. Beloved husband of the late Helen T. (McDonough) MacVarish, he was the loving father of Kathleen and her husband Marshall Ottina of Milton, John D. IV and his wife Elizabeth of Hingham,
The corner of Crown and Blue Hill Terrace is passable. And that is a great thing. Working to make sidewalks passable is a challenge but improves safety especially now that school is open (at least for today). Please do what you can.
