Cullinane wins Milton (& district) in 12th Suffolk Democratic primary

Dan Cullinane, one of 3 Democratic candidates for the 12th Suffolk district, easily won the Democratic primary in Milton. Turnout was light. Cullinane received 291 votes. Stephanie Everett received 46 and Marydith Tuitt had 29. Precincts 1 and 2 are included in the 12th Suffolk District. There were also 6 write in votes for Ruthella Logan-Cruz. Body found in Milton park; no sign of foul play

Police say they have found no evidence of foul play in the death of a man who whose body was discovered at the base of Governor Hutchinson’s Field over the weekend.

Deputy Chief John King said police have tentatively identified the man as a 54-year-old Amesbury resident who was reported missing Tuesday. He said he expects the medical examiner’s office will make a determination in the coming days. (Read the full story here.)

Mtg Notes: Plan’g Brd 08.08.13 – New development for Blue Hill ave, follow up on Women’s Club

At last week’s meeting of the Planning Board members learned of a possible development on Blue Hill Avenue at corner of Vose Hill Road dubbed Hemenway Woods. There is an abandoned nursery on the site now. Paul Sullivan presented a plan that would put in a road and three houses. It was a plan he presented earlier the Zoning Board of Appeals. However, Planning Director Clark took issue with Mr Sullivan’s account of that session. According to Clark what the ZBA said and what Mr Sullivan was presenting were not exactly the same.

Milton mother walks to change perceptions about MS

Julie Baker of Milton watched from the sidelines during last year’s Cape Cod Multiple Sclerosis Challenge Walk and wasn’t happy about it.

She’d had doubts about raising the $1,500 required of each team, but as she watched people diagnosed with MS – people just like her – she knew she should have been doing the two-day, 50-kilometer walk alongside them. (Read the full story here.)

Precincts 1 & 2 – you have an election today

Polls are open. There is a primary election today in Precincts 1 & 2 for state representative. Dan Cullinane, Stephanie Everett, and Marydith Tuitt are running on the Democratic ticket for the 12th Suffolk District seat. The district includes those two precincts as well as parts of Mattapan, Hyde Park, and Dorchester. The seat became available when Linda Dorcena Forry won election to the Massachusetts Senate.

Congrats to runners in yesterday’s Falmouth road race

falmouth2013The Falmouth Road Race took place yesterday under a spotless, sparkling sky. It was hot. It was beautify. It was something else. And of the 12,800 odd runners, 128 were from Milton. You can find unofficial results for all runners and search by name, town, etc here.
