Sammarco once lived in Milton and made substantial contributions to the community during his time here. September Stained Glass Mosaics Display at Milton Public Library
During the month of September, the Milton Public Library will host artist Karen Dewhirst in the Wotiz Gallery on the first floor. Ms. Dewhirst, a Milton resident for the last 20 years, solders with copper and lead, recycling vintage lamps and creating the handmade shades out of bottles, plates and stained glass sheets which she fits for chandeliers, floor and table lamps.
Swing Concert on Town Hall Green Sponsored by The Friends of the Library
After a rain cancellation in June, Four Guys in Tuxes will play swing, society, and classic rock on August 27 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. The concert will be held the Town Hall green, across the street from the Milton Public Library. Sponsored by The Friends of the Milton Library, the popular band is returning for its 17th performance in the summer concert series. Admission is free.

Mtg notes: BoS 08.14.13 (a) – Keohane provides Hendries update
At the 8/14 meeting of the Board of Selectmen, Chair Denis Keohane provided an update on the status of the Hendries property. Keohane has been a member of a group of officials and residents that has been meeting with the Connellys, the owners of the property, to develop and discuss reviving a mixed use building that satisfies the zoning, addresses neighborhood concerns, and is financially viable to the Connellys.
Milton increases water rates for the 2013-2014

Water prices will go up and sewer prices will go down, following a unanimous selectmen’s vote approving the rates for 2013-14.
The increase in water rates will be 10.75 percent, while the decline for sewer rates will be 2.4 percent, according to Department of Public Works Director Joe Lynch. (Read the full story here.)

Fall Knitting Socials at MPL

Malicious damage: At 6:42 a.m., police received a report of vandalism to a vehicle on Rose Street. Somebody punctured rear passenger side tire. The owner said this was the second time this happened to the same vehicle in two weeks. (Read the full story here.)
