MPD announce Police Cadet Exam

Announcing that the Milton Police Department will be conducting a Police Cadet Exam on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 9 AM. The exam will take place at the Milton Police Headquarters, 40 Highland Street. Open to applicants between 18 and 22 at the time of the examination. Applications are available at the front desk of the police station and there is a $20 filing fee.

Junior High Back to School Scavenger Hunt at the Milton Public Library

On Wednesday, September 5 at 3:30 p.m., the Teen Services department of the Milton Public Library will host a Back to School event for junior high school students. After snacking on pizza and hearing a brief introduction to Teen Services, students will participate in a scavenger hunt that leads them through the library’s physical and virtual spaces.

Onstage with Max & Suzy: Sleeping Ugly

Kidstock! presents “Onstage with Max & Suzy,” a live interactive theater performances for ages 3 and up that dramatically combines familiar titles with creative substitutions. Max & Suzy are best friends who codirect a theater troupe of kids on their street, but can never agree on which play to produce. Audience members get “in on the act” when their friends don’t show up for rehearsal as our young playwrights learn to play right and share their imagination up onstage for all to enjoy. Sponsored by the Milton Library Foundation. Appropriate for any over the age of 3!

The LAST DATE TO REGISTER FOR THE STATE PRIMARY is Friday, August 17, 2012.  The Office of the Town Clerk will host a registration session on this date and will be open from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.  You may register in person or by mail.  To register to vote in person, you must appear and register at the Town Clerk’s Office by 8:00 p.m. on the last day to register.

Update: Mearn back at town hall; Selectmen to meet today

Editor’s note: In his statement on Monday Mr. Mearn referenced his bringing “irregularities” to the attention of the Board. A brief summary and link regarding that have been added to bottom of this post.

At last night’s meeting of the Board of Selectmen they voted not to renew Town Administrator Kevin Mearn’s contract.  But as reported in Boston.com Your Town Milton, Mearn returned to work at Town Hall today. The article states, “Mearn’s attorney, Ken Kurnos, said that because the motion did not specifically call for his termination, Mearn was free to return to work in his role as town administrator if he chose to do so.” (You can find the full article here.)
