East Congregational invites community to “Welcome Back” service
East Congregational Church extends an invitation to the community to come to their “Welcome Back” service on Sunday, September 9, at 10 am. The church’s new interim pastor, Rev. Mark Seifried will be preaching. The new Christian Education Directors will also begin registering children for the new church school year.
Milton Cultural Council Hosts Information Session at Town Hall September 19
Artists, educators, and representatives from non-profit organizations and schools are invited to an informational session from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 19 at Milton Town Hall, in the Cronin Room, hosted by the Milton Cultural Council. Come and learn how to fill out a grant application and see what the Council is all about.
Smash Bros Tournament @ MPL
Love Super Smash Bros. Brawl? Up for a challenge? Show off your skills at a Super Smash Bros. tournament hosted by the Teen Services Department of the Milton Public Library on Saturday, September 22, at 1:30 p.m.
This 32-player single elimination tournament will give students in grades 6-12 a chance to prove their mettle on the library’s Wii. The champion will win a GameStop gift card. The library will provide board games and snacks for spectators and players, so stop by even if you’re not planning to compete! Space is limited; pre-registration via the library’s website (http://www.miltonlibrary.org/teen.asp) is encouraged.

Calling all teenage anime and manga fans!
Calling all teenage anime and manga fans! On Tuesday, September 18, from 6:30-8:00 p.m., join other fans of Japanese art and animation at the Milton Public Library. We’ll watch anime, hang out, and talk manga. This month we’re also going to make candy sushi – just as tasty as regular sushi with none of the raw fish!
Sustainable Milton Free Movie Night presents ‘I AM’
Sustainable Milton presents I Am at the Milton Public Libary. This engaging and entertaining documentary poses two practical and provocative questions: what’s wrong with our world, and what can we do to make it better? Armed with nothing but his innate curiosity and a small crew to film his adventures, Shadyac set out on a twenty-first century quest for enlightenment.
Teen movie @ MPL
On Friday, Sept. 14 at 3 p.m., the Teen Services department of the Milton Public Library will host an after school movie for teens and pre-teens. The library will screen one of the four following movies: The Lucky One (2012), Wrath of the Titans (2012), When A Stranger Calls (2006), or 10 Things I Hate About You (1999).
Onstage with Max & Suzy: The Little Martian
Kidstock! presents “Onstage with Max & Suzy,” a live interactive theater performances for ages 3 and up that dramatically combines familiar titles with creative substitutions. Max & Suzy are best friends who codirect a theater troupe of kids on their street, but can never agree on which play to produce. Audience members get “in on the act” when their friends don’t show up for rehearsal as our young playwrights learn to play right and share their imagination up onstage for all to enjoy. Forbes House to host 2nd Annual Ladies Tea
The Forbes House Museum will hold its 2nd annual Ladies Tea on Sunday, 26 August 2012, at 2pm. Guests will be treated to five mini courses of sweet and savory treats including mini tea sandwiches, desert breads, cheese and crackers, delightful cookies, fruit and whipped cream desserts, and, of course, tea.
Choir from Haiti to perform in Milton
Bethany First United Methodist Church of Roslindale will host the Duplin Methodist Choir from Haiti for a concert on Saturday, Aug. 25, 6 p.m. at the Parkway UMC, 158 Blue Hills Parkway, Milton. Tickets are available by calling Mimose at 781-963-6682 or Bethany UMC at 617-327-2532. Payments will be accepted at the door. Admission is $20. Proceeds will help the people of Haiti.
