Stone Soup Lecture: Arnold Arboretum’s Elizabeth Ryan to discuss plant adaption to climate change
The Wakefield Estate’s last Stone Soup and Speaker of the season will be this Thursday, May 30 with special guest speaker Elizabeth Ryan of Brown University and the Arnold Arboretum. Elizabeth studies how plants will respond to climate change.
Book sale to benefit Richard Family Fund
We are holding a book sale on June 1st and June 8th from 3-6 pm. It will be in the format of a Yard Sale and will be located at 71 Concord Ave. The proceeds are going to the Richards Family Fund. Yes, we will take donations. Adult and childrens books are welcome. Gently used books please by Thursday May 30th to the bin on our porch.

The 5th Annual M.A.D. Scramble
This is our favorite race because of its route. The 5th Annual M.A.D. Scramble will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 6:30 PM at the Pierce Middle School, Milton MA. The race supports the Detective Michael A Devin Memorial Fund. Proceeds from the race fund scholarships, support juvenile athletic programs, and provide assistance to families in need.

A new community group, We Are Milton (WAM), has formed to produce a town celebration that will feature . . . fireworks and more. There will be a musical festival of local groups including MHS orchestra and jazz band, Pauline Wells, Mixed Emotions and more.
Reminder: Wakefield Estate Offers Preview of Open Days Program of Milton Gardens
On Thursday, May 23, at 7:00pm at the Milton Public Library, Wakefield Estate Landscape Director Debbie Merriam will provide a sneak preview of the Milton gardens that will be open to the public on June 8th as part of The Garden Conservancy’s Open Days, a nationwide garden preservation program.

The Conversation Project was founded by Boston Globe columnist Ellen Goodman and others to help families and loved ones talk openly about end-of-life issues, with the goal of having every person’s end-of-life wishes expressed and respected.
Milton Teams Up with Friends of the Blue Hills to Green Up the Blue Hills!
All are invited to join the Friends of the Blue Hills for a spring festival of stewardship and fun. The annual Green Up Day will be held on Sunday, June 2, from 1 p.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Ponkapoag AMC Cabins. Volunteers will enjoy music, face painting, crafts and a scavenger hunt while helping with an essential task: pulling up invasive weeds that threaten the Blue Hills.
Milton Library teen book club announces June selection and meeting date
The Milton Public Library’s teen book club has selected A Love Story Starring My Dead Best Friend by Emily Horner as its June pick. When Cass’s best friend Julia dies in a car accident, she leaves behind plans for a musical called “Totally Sweet Ninja Death Squad.”
JFK Library to collaborate Boston Pops & Gov Patrick at Symphony Hall
On May 22, 2013, two of Boston’s iconic cultural institutions – the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and the Boston Pops – will come together at Symphony Hall to honor President Kennedy and his lasting imprint on American life and culture.
