What is this life is, full of care
We have no time to stand and stare.

No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.

Frank thoughts on suggested improvements to Town Meeting – Just do it & consider a state of the town address

A cast of town officials assembled at the 12/11 meeting of the Board of Selectmen at the invitation of Chair Katie Conlon. Brian Walsh, Town Moderator, Sue Galvin, Town Clerk, Ted Hays, Chair of the Warrant Committee, Rick Neely, Chair of Government Study Committee, and Alex Whiteside, Chair of Planning Board were all present to discuss how Town Meeting might be improved in light of criticisms received after last fall’s town meeting. A couple of good ideas were raised, and now is the time to implement them.

A small bit of winter wonder

Where we live not far from Shields Park received little by way of snow yesterday; but Great Blue Hill was an altogether different story.

Greenway extension about to commence

On Monday the DCR will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at the Ryan Playground in Mattapan to celebrate the beginning of construction on the extension of the Neponset River Greenway through Milton and Mattapan, This leg of the Greenway, more commonly referred to locally as the bike path, will extend from Central Avenue to Mattapan Square.

Milton Library Teen Book Club Announces January Selection

The Milton Public Library’s teen book club has selected The Fault in Our Stars  by John Green as its January pick.  “Sixteen-year-old Hazel, a stage IV thyroid cancer patient, has accepted her terminal diagnosis until a chance meeting with a boy at cancer support group forces her to reexamine her perspective on loss, love, and life.” 

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Services at St. Michael’s Milton

On Wednesday, December 24, St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Milton, MA will hold its Christmas Eve services with Holy Communion at 3pm, 5:30pm and 10:30pm. At 3pm, children of all ages will enjoy the family-friendly service and pageant that tells of Christ’s coming. The Cathedral Choir will sing Christmas selections and children and families are invited to donate an unwrapped toy to benefit children at the Grow Clinic at Boston Medical Center.
