Milton Animal League: June’s dogs

The Milton Animal League is one of the more technically savvy organizations here in town. After reading the piece in today’s Globe on abandoned pets we did a little digging around and learned that the Animal League periodically profiles the dogs under their care.

Following is the most recent video. You can find the Milton Animal League’s web site here.

Abandoned pets on rise in hard times

The Blue Hills becomes a popular dumping ground for pets no longer wanted

from the Boston Globe

The beagle mix puppy wiggled around Dawn Savery’s legs in the large gravel and grass cage at the Lakeville Animal Shelter recently, blissfully unaware that he is part of a growing trend.

“You are a cute little one,” Savery, who lives in Middleborough, said to the animal gnawing at her shoes. “I feel bad for you. Yes, I do.”  (Read the full story here.)

Troubled mom identified as burn victim

from The Boston Herald

The body found smoldering this weekend at the Blue Hills Reservation was identified as a 42-year-old mother of four who had a history of being at the wrong place at the wrong time, authorities said.

Kristyn Genereux of Plymouth was identified by the medical examiner, thanks in part to the tips that poured in after pictures of three of her rings were publicized, said Norfolk County District Attorney William Keating. (Read the full story here.)

The Governor’s house is going up for sale

With his children grown Governor Patrick and his wife have decided their house here in Milton is more than they need.

The Boston Globe reports today that the house will go on the market for just shy of $2 million. According to one realtor, it is “absolutely magnificent” with 5 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths and 9 fireplaces.

Naturally, questions were asked about the governor’s personal financial situation. He deflected those simply saying he is “blessed” and that there is no urgency in selling.

Runners rule!

The 23rd Annual Milton Road Race, sponsored by the Junior Women’s Club, took place early this evening. While the weather was not great for spectators, it was almost perfect for runners. And run they did.

Having run this race in year’s past, I can tell you it is not an easy course. The runners did great and should be commended. Congratulations all! Here are the top 15 finishers. You can get the full race results here.
