DCR holds hearing on bike trail connection
The DCR held a hearing Monday night on connecting the bike trail that runs from Eliot and Central out t Pope John Paul Park to the one under construction that runs from Mattapan Square out Truman Parkway and the overall public response was markedly different from the initial reception a bike path proposal received several years ago.
State Senate hopeful Richard Livingston promises to put his constituents first

Easton Selectman grateful to Joyce for assistance with 40B development
A recent article in the Patriot Ledger highlighted concerns voiced by some Easton residents regarding Senator Joyce’s involvement with the redevelopment of the Ames shovel project under Chapter 40B. This project was initially awarded to a developer who was going to tear down a number of the Ames historic buildings. This alarmed residents and officials and David Colton, Town Administrator (who was previously in Milton) sought assistance. Senator Joyce was among those he reached out to.
Superintendent follows up on publishing of school lottery info
At last night’s school committee meeting a parent expressed concerns regarding the transparency of the lottery process the school followed. To address those concerns Ms. Gormley, Superintendent of Schools, stated that the lottery info (Student’s initials and lottery number) would be posted on the school web site.
Meeting Notes: School Committee 05.18.10 – Parents take issue with school assignment plan
At last night’s school committee meeting Citizens Speak was dominated by parents voicing their displeasure with the lottery system as implemented by the schools. At the heart of the problem is a significantly high number of kindergarten students entering the first grade this coming fall. Most of those students attend the Colicott school and more of them want to enroll in the French program than the school can accommodate. Hence if they want to be in the French Program they will need to go to another school. Their home school is not an option.
Crash knocks out power near Curry College

A driver having a severe diabetic reaction crashed into a Verizon utility pole near Curry College, knocking out power in the area and causing a small brush fire, according to police. (Read the full story here.)
