Mtg notes: Selectmen 10.21.10 – Cons Fac is a GO!; Board to focus on Stoughton land

The Board of Selectmen unanimously voted in favor of signing the Memorandum of Agreement between the School Committee and the board regarding the formation and structure of a new Department of Facilities. It is the culmination of over two years of work on the part of the Consolidated Facilities Committee which was tasked by the Selectmen to explore the viability of the idea.

Milton GOP Committee Offers Rides for Absentee Voters

Members of the Milton Republican Town Committee are making themselves available to drive registered Milton voters, who will be unable to vote at the polls on Election Day (November 2, 2010), to Town Hall before Election Day to complete absentee ballot applications and to vote. Absentee ballot eligibility requirements and instructions can be viewed on the Town of Milton website here.

Burr runs on smaller government, deregulation

When Canton Selectman Bob Burr knocks on doors for his campaign against incumbent Brian Joyce, D-Milton, he said he hears the same concerns over and over. When he first decided to run for state Senate, the Republican thought he’d hear mostly local issues, like concerns over South Coast Rail or Westwood Station, but he said local residents want something simpler from their elected officials. After more than two years of analysis, research and negotiation, the town of Milton is on the cusp of one of the most significant and large-scale changes to town departments to occur in years.

About those people who raise chickens . . .

Yesterday had perfect weather for taking advantage of the refreshing Tour de Coops, an informally organized trip around town to see chicken coops. And so we did. Among other things, we learned that the folks who raise chickens are incredibly nice and generous with their time and knowledge.
