Happening now – avoid Truman Pkwy

Screen Shot 2015-03-31 at 6.09.59 PMThere is a serious car fire on Truman Pkwy just up the road from Blue Hill Pkwy intersection. Best to avoid if at all possible. Police and fire are on the scene. Witnesses report a multi-car accident and characterize the situation as “crazy.”

Mtg notes: Planning Board 03.25 & 03.26.15 – Hearing scheduled for sign petition; condo article discussed

The Planning Board met last Wednesday and Thursday. They also discussed two citizens petition articles that are on the Annual Town Warrant. One deals with a revision to a condo bylaw article and the other to a moratorium on lit signs. (The primary topic of business was an ongoing hearing for a special permit to allow Thayer Nursery to operate a landscaping business from their Hillside location. That topic will be covered in a future post.)

Milton Public Schools Host Art Event

The Milton Public Schools’ K-12 Art Department is presenting the 2nd Annual Passport to the Arts at all of the schools.  Students and their families are encouraged to attend multiple exhibits and have their “passports” stamped by the art faculty at each school.  Families can pick up passports at any of the events below.

East Congregational extends Good Friday invitation to the community

Good Friday, April 3, at East Church (610 Adams Street, East Milton) — East Church extends an invitation to the community: Our Labyrinth, painted on the parking lot behind the church, will be open and unobstructed during daylight hours. If you come by car, please park in the adjacent parking lot on Granite Place.

Booster Can & Bottle Drive

The MHS Boosters are sponsoring a can & bottle drive on Saturday, April 4th to benefit athletic team fundraising. The boys tennis team will run the ‘Cans for Cats’ drive from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Milton high school.

Meeting: Board of Selectmen

The Board of Selectmen will be meeting briefly on 3/31 at 6:45 in the Cronin Conference Room at Town Hall. The agenda includes but is not limited to: a public safety discussion with Chief Wells and an extension of demo agreement of 0 Central Ave. The board will adjourn at 7:30 to attend a meeing of the Board of Appeals which is holding a hearing on a comprehensive permit (40B application) for 711 Randolph Ave at the Council on Aging.
