Assistant Superintendent John Phelan is leaving the Milton Public Schools to lead the Belmont School system. We met Mr. Phelan when he was the Assistant Principal at Pierce. He learned at the knee of George Moran that schools need to be safe and warm environments if learning is to happen. Phelan carried that forward as principal of Pierce and eventually as Assistant Superintendent.
John Phelan has worked hard for both the schools and the community. We are happy for him at the same time we are sorry to see him go. Fortunately, he is remaining in town. Congratulations Mr. Phelan — Mr. Phelan, who addressing 6th Graders at the start of the year would say, “Be nice . . . be good.”
