The Milton Board of Appeals will open a hearing this evening (Thursday, 7/24) regarding the application for a comprehensive special permit for the Hendries property. This is the next step in the proposed development of a 40B apartment complex on the site. The hearing is at 7:30 in the Blute Conference Room at Town Hall. Oddly, it appears that neither members of the Board of Selectmen or Planning Board are going to be in attendance.

WGBH has created an online mapping tool to illustrate how rising waters could flood Boston. The map is based on a report from the Boston Harbor Association. These rising waters could be caused by a “rising sea level, storm surges, astronomical high tides or other causes.” The Courtland/Thistle Avenue area would be affected by a rise of 7.5′. A post yesterday regarding the Board of Selectmen’s meeting indicated that a cornucopia of items and issues were discussed. In addition to Hendries and sewer/water rates, the board also discussed articles for town meeting, received an updates from Health Director Caroline Kinsella, Senator Joyce, and Emily Innes of the Planning Board.
Riverside Theatre Works in Hyde Park closes out its 2014 concert season with a very special presentation by Rachel MacKenzie and guests on Saturday evening, August 16 at 8:00 p.m. Accompanied by pianist Ben Rauhala, Rachel and her guests will perform a mix of jazz standards, musical theater numbers, and re-imagined pop and rock music.
