Job Doctor is in at Milton Public Library
Milton’s “Job Doctor” Roni Noland will answer any questions about job searches every Wednesday morning at the Milton Public Library, between 10:30 AM and 12 noon in the second floor reference area. Visitors can ask Noland about resumes, cover letters, social networking, interviewing and job search strategy for free.
Election results in – Cullinane wins Democratic nomination for Precinct 1 & 2

Dan Cullinane is on a path to retain his seat in the Massachusetts House. Mr. Cullinane represents Precinct 1 and 2 here in Milton where he won handily (Dorchester Reporter article here). There were no Republican primary candidates for the seat.
Martha Coakley topped the Democratic ticket but Grossman was Milton’s Democratic choice with 1635 votes to Coakley’s 1484. Baker easily defeated Fisher on the Republican ticket. (Boston Globe election coverage here.)
Cong. Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills Celebrates Holidays
As the fall Jewish holiday season approaches, Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills (formerly Temples Shalom of Milton and Beth El of Quincy) invites interested individuals and families in the surrounding area to join us in observing and celebrating the various holidays. High Holiday services begin with Erev Rosh Hashanah on Sept. 24th, under the direction of spiritual leader Rabbi Alfred Benjamin and Cantor Saralee Shrell-Fox.

Public forum on Housing Production Plan defines challenge, defies ready solution

At a public meeting on the development of a Housing Production Plan, Milton’s situation with regard to affordable housing and its ongoing vulnerability to 40B housing developments was starkly drawn. Karen Sunnarberg, a consultant retained by the town to assist in the development of the plan, gave a presentation (see below) that Alex Whiteside, Chair of the Planning Board, characterized as “excellent.” It provided definitions, needs assessment, and strategies for affordable housing in Milton.
Meeting: Board of Selectmen
The Board of Selectmen will be meeting on Wednesday 9/10 at 7:00PM at the Milton Access Television studio at 391 Brook Road. They will begin with an executive session to discuss 0 Central Ave (town-owned portion of Hendries) The open session agenda includes but is not limited to update on 0 Central Ave, Milton Art Center 4th amendment, release of 2011 executive session minutes, and updates on Housing Production Plan and affordable Housing Trust. Reminder: Primary Election Today – vote

Today is a primary election. You can find sample ballots on the Town Clerk’s web site. There are different ballots for different precincts. You can find out what precinct you are in here.
In addition to Governor, Treasurer, Attorney General, etc, Milton’s Precincts 1 &2 will be voting for State Representative.
Forbes House to feature lectures by Anthony Sammarco & Chief Justice Williams
The Forbes House Museum will sponsor lectures by historian and author, Anthony Sammarco and Rhode Island Chief Justice (retired), Frank J. Williams on 17 September and 19 October in the Keys Room at the Milton Public Library, 476 Canton Avenue, Milton. The lectures are free and open to the public.
