Cakes has opened! The retail bakery / coffee shop / sandwich shop in Central Square (intersection of Central Ave + Eliot St) popped open yesterday.

In an article on runners from the south shore the Boston Globe gave a shout out to Milton resident Justin Renz who for the second year in a row was the fastest runner from Milton. He finished with a time of 2:45! Congratulations Justin. You can find the full Globe article here.

At last night’s Planning Board meeting Rich Kleiman, Chairman of the Wind Energy Committee, continued the discussion of special permit for the construction of the wind turbine on town property that abuts the Granite Links golf course and presented a revised report.

This is a difficult endorsement. Difficult because the incumbent, Ed Duffy, is a good man. We’ve been on the same side politically often, and occasionally on opposite sides, as with the Tucker Village proposal. Between his employment and years on the planning board, he’s given half a century of service to the town he was born in and loves. He deserves our sincere thanks. (Read the full commentary here.)
