Short takes: Cakes, Turner’s Pond & consol. fac. support

Cakes has opened! The retail bakery / coffee shop / sandwich shop in Central Square (intersection of Central Ave + Eliot St) popped open yesterday. We went down for a coffee, which comes from Flat Black, and a pecan roll, which we needed like a hole in the head. Both were great. They have comfortable seating with chairs, couches and a bar that runs along the window. Check it out! It is run by Biga Breads.

The north side of Turners Pond is also open. Yay. You can now walk the north side, the side to your left as you enter Turner’s from Central Ave. Our understanding is that the south side will open around May 1st. Perfect time of year for a short stroll.

Library Trustees support Consolidated Facilities. At a recent meeting of the Library Trustees they voted in support of the effort to establish a Consolidated Facilities department that would be responsible for oversight of municipal buildings and grounds.
