FAVA receives cultural grant; will offer free art workshops
FAVA (The Friends and Advocates of the Visual Arts), a local group that provides arts instruction and advocates for the arts in the elementary schools has been on a bit of a roll recently. They recently submitted a proposal to occupy the East Milton Library, they will be hosting an art opening of student work, and they just received a grant to provide free one day workshops to the children of Milton.
He’s back! Joyce sworn in as state senate begins 187th term
The 187th term of the Massachusetts State Senate began last Wednesday with the traditional swearing-in ceremony held in the Senate Chamber. Senator Brian A. Joyce took the oath of office administered by Governor Deval L. Patrick. Joyce represents the Norfolk, Bristol and Plymouth district, which includes the Town of Milton.
Milton man among those apprehended in high speed chase
The Boston Globe reports that Daronde Bethea of Milton was among those arrested by Boston Police after a high speed chase in which the car crashed into a guard rail when the driver attempted to get on I93. In the foot pursuit that followed another suspect pulled a rifle on police.
How the South Shore became the Irish Riviera

Forbes House Museum Announces Annual Lincoln Essay & Drawing Contest

The Forbes House Museum’s Lincoln Committee has announced the topics for this year’s annual Lincoln Drawing & Essay Contest. Children grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade are invited to participate in the drawing contest and children in grades 4th through 8th are invited to participate in the essay contest.
Stoughton Trustees (Selectmen) continue to move RFP forward
At the January 6th meeting of the Board of Selectmen the Selectmen as Trustees of the Governor Stoughton Land did a page turn of the most recent draft of an RFP that will seek to meet the intent of the Governor’s will: to provide assistance to Milton’s poor.
