Last week the School Committee voted to remove Good Friday and Yom Kippur as days off for Milton students. The recent snow days have forced a re-examination of the calendar. In an attempt to shorten the length of the school year slightly the administration made the recommendation. This year school started before Labor Day and will run almost to the end of June.

This is Marmee Taylor who joined the MFA Associates in 2008 as a Flower Arranger, and was also a photographer for Art in Bloom. She was at the Milton Public Library last night to give a peek into the “Art in Bloom” event that takes place annually at the MFA. It is a great event and both Milton garden groups have been represented in the past.

The air was soft, the ground still cold.
In the dull pasture where I strolled
Was something I could not believe.
Dead grass appeared to slide and heave,
The 4th annnual MyTownMatters Candidates Forum in partnership with the Milton High School debate team will take place on at Fuller Village on Saturday, April 11 at 1:00pm. Candidates for town wide offices will answer questions from the debate team and provide statements on why they are the best qualified to serve Milton. The public is encouraged to attend. It will provide an opportunity to hear first hand how these individuals intend to address town issues and lead Milton forward. Following is a quick guide to the candidates based on information they have provided.
On Tuesday, April 14, the Friends of the Blue Hills will host its first Peek-a-Blue Hike of the year. The free, one-hour guided hike will start at 11 a.m. at the Houghton’s Pond main parking lot at 840 Hillside Street. Complimentary refreshments will be served, and there will be a simple scavenger hunt for parents and children with all children receiving a prize at the end.
