Milton Standoff Ends With Arrest

A standoff between a teenager and State and Milton police ended safely Saturday afternoon.

The two-hour standoff began around 3:30 p.m. at a house on Churchill Street in Milton when a 19-year-old man held himself up inside the home. (read full story)

Milton actress takes on a different role in “The Light in the Piazza”

Carolynne Warren may play a character that lives thousands of miles away, but she’s finally back home.
Warren, who plays Signora Naccarelli in the SpeakEasy Stage Company’s “The Light in the Piazza,” which is set in Italy, has been away from the South Shore for more than 20 years.  She returned to the Boston area last spring and performed in “Menopause: The Musical” at the Stuart Street Playhouse.  Her play “Fancee Panties,” which co-starred popular Boston actresses Mary Callanan and Kathy St. George, played to packed houses this summer.
The Tony Award-winning “Light in the Piazza” tells the story of a 1953 romance between  young American Clara Johnson and Italian Fabrizio Naccarelli, and the secret that could keep them apart. (read full story)

Milton man charged in investigation of MBTA no-show jobs

A Milton man is one of three MBTA employees to be arraigned today in Suffolk Superior Court after an investigation into no-show jobs.

Michael O’Toole, 49, is charged with presentation of false claims and larceny of more than $250. ( read full story)

Mustangs win turf war

St. Mary of the Hills celebrates 50 years

Since 1958, St. Mary of the Hills School has educated children from Milton and surrounding areas. Next weekend, the school will sponsor several events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the school, and to look toward the future. (read full story)

Enjoy the amazing view, fascinating history and fun activities at the oldest continuously operating weather observatory in the country. Activities include: Rooftop viewing, weather demonstrations, kite making and kite flying, easy and breezy activities for kids, weather exhibits, lectures and displays, and self-guided tours of the Weather Observatory.

All activities at Blue Hill Weather Observatory at the summit of Great Blue Hill.

Event is free. Nominal charge for some activities.

To access the activities at the Observatory:

Walk/hike the 1 mile route to the summit.

No private vehicles allowed.

Directions: Take Exit 2B off Route 93 and head north on Route 138. All event parking at the Trailside Museum south parking lot near the Blue Hill Ski Area on Route 138 in Milton.
