Cindy L. Christiansen Announces Candidacy for 1-Year open seat on Milton Board of Health

Cindy L. Christiansen, PhD, is Associate Professor of Health Policy and Management at Boston University School of Public Health. She has over 20 years experience in health, medical, and health policy research and teaching. She believes that improvement to population health requires collaborative approaches. Once elected, she will work with other Milton committees and boards (e.g., parks, planning, housing, public safety, MCAAI) to ensure health considerations are included in all Town decisions and policies.

Using her experience in obtaining government research funding, Dr. Christiansen is interested in pursuing state and federal healthy-community grant funds for the Town and in increasing public health education through social media and community news sources. She will work with other board members and town employees on Milton public health initiatives and all local and state health regulation compliance activities.

Along with enjoying time with her expanding family and group of friends, Cindy is on the Board of South Shore Habitat for Humanity and is dedicated to efforts to reduce poverty housing and its consequences. Christiansen is Town Meeting Member, Precinct 7, and is a member of the Granite Avenue Park and Ride Committee. Her home is at 59 Collamore Street; her email is cLcMilton@gmail.com.

There has been confusion and misrepresentation of some of my candidacy information in my run for Milton Board of Health.

As my literature provides, I have a Ph.D. in statistics. I also have over 20 years of cross-disciplinary health, medical and policy research and teaching experience and currently am Associate Professor Health Policy and Management, Boston University School of Public Health.

My cross-disciplinary work over much of the public health and healthcare spectrum (including policy, treatment, prevention, management, cost, vulnerable populations, drug abuse, etc.) is key to my qualifications for this position. Please watch tomorrow’s debate to learn more about my knowledge of health law, public health initiatives, grant writing and possibilities, and about my community service.

I ask for your vote on April 29th. I will work hard to honor the trust you place in me. Thank you.
