Letter: Library Director alerts patrons on measures to improve vehicular and pedestrian safety

Dear Milton Library Patron,

There are changes coming to the Milton Public Library parking lot. The entrance and exit to the Library parking lot are scheduled to switch places beginning Thursday, October 17th. This change will reverse the direction of traffic in the Library parking lot.

The Milton Public Library has been working with the Milton Traffic Commission to remedy safety concerns regarding the Library parking lot. Since the opening of the new Library, a number of accidents have occurred with cars entering the parking lot from Canton Avenue. The entrance and exit switch being undertaken should alleviate these safety concerns.

The current changes will include new line striping on Canton Avenue to reflect the switched entrance and exit. In addition, there will be the creation of new parking spaces on Canton Avenue.

These changes are the first step in a plan to increase the safety of pedestrians and motorists visiting the Library and traveling on Canton Avenue. The Library plans to make further improvements to the parking lot to continue to reduce safety concerns.
