Brief bits: Lafond withdraws name for Town Admin; Appeal filed on Hillside property

Richard Lafond of Bridgewater, one of four finalists for the open Town Administrator position here in Milton, has withdrawn his name from consideration. Town Hall confirmed Mr. Lafond’s decision and said no reason was given. Mr. Lafond is the town administrator in Carver, MA. The other three candidates are Annmarie Fagan, Milton’s current interim administrator, Grady Miller of Naragansett, and William O’Donnell of Great Barrington. The selectmen are scheduled to interview these three candidates at their session on February 12th.

The applicants who sought an open space development special permit for the Fandrey property on Hillside street were denied that permit. Mr. Kelly and Mr. Lynch voted to deny the permit. Ms. Innes and Mr. Duffy voted in favor and Mr. Whiteside, being an neighbor to the property, recused himself. Approval requires 4 of 5 votes. The applicants are appealing the decision signed by Kelly and Lynch. At this evenings meeting the board is going into executive session with Town Counsel Flynn to discuss the litigation. The Board of Selectmen will also be going into executive session this evening to discuss the matter.
