MPD remind us why this day matters

The Milton Police Department posted the following worthy reminder on their Facebook page:

On December 7, all US flags at federal, state and public facilities in the United States will be flown at half-staff, in commemoration of the Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. This historic day will allow all Americans to remember the infamous attack by Japanese forces on the US Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor, as well as celebrate the valor and dedication shown by a brave generation of Americans during the World War II.

MHS Concerts – come hear some great music

The MHS and Pierce students will be performing next week and they are going to be great. Here is a list of performances on tap:

Tue 12/11 @ 7 p.m. – Musicians and singers from the Pierce Middle School perform.
Wed 12/12, @ 7 p.m. – Musicians and singers from Pierce Middle School perform.
Thu 12/13 @ 7 p.m. –  The annual Milton High School Winter Concert features performances by the chorale, orchestra and symphonic band.All concerts take place at the Charles Winchester Auditorium at Milton High School.

Mtg Notes: School Committee 12.05.12 – $515K Advancement Budget initiative approved

The School Committee approved a $515,000 Advancement Budget that would move the district forward by “emphasizing early literacy achievement, closing proficiency gaps, and advancing science, technology, engineering and math initiatives. Superintendent Gormley made the presentation which came out of the Finance subcommittee. It was presented independently of the larger overall budget which will be taken up next week.

Persepolis to open “Insight into Iran” film series

The film  Persepolis is to be screened on Saturday evening, December 15th at 7:00 p.m., doors open at 6:45 to start the  “Insight into Iran” Winter Movie Series of Temple Shalom of Milton, co-sponsored this year by the First Congregational Church and First Parish Church, and the public is invited.
