Last Saturday Brookwood Farm held a pancake breakfast and plant sale to kick of the 2010 growing season. The weather was perfect. The pancakes were perfect. The setting was perfect. It was just that kind of morning.
The pancakes were so good and the turnout so high that the food was more or less gone before the official 11:00 o’clock close. But it was hard to find a disappointed face.
Brookwood Farm is our local CSA. It offers shares for sale in the early spring. It is too late for that; but you are not out of luck if you are looking for locally grown, organic produce. Brookwood farm has a stand at the Milton Farmer’s Market which is held rain or shine in Milton Village just off Adams Street in that small green in front of 88 Wharf Restaurant and next to the Milton Yacht Club.
The Farmers Market will kick off their season in early June. The market features a variety of vendors that offer dairy products, seafood, baked goods and cheeses in addition to produce.
