Voter turnout by precinct for Selectman

First, here is an explanation on how to read this chart. Take Precinct 1, for example, reading from right to left:

Precinct 1 has a total of 1,434 voters, 8% of the town total of registered voters which is 17.685. Of those registered voters 351 actually voted: 214 voted for Fagan and 137 voted for Sweeney, giving Fagan a positive differential in that precinct of 77 votes. A negative number as in Precinct 6 would be a differential in Sweeney’s favor. In the case of Precinct 6 that is 182. Continuing to the right, Precinct 1 accounted for 6% of the total votes cast. There turnout was 24% of the their total registered voters.

Some conclusions:

  • When you look at the voting differential by precinct, Fagan was dominant in two precincts, 2 & 3. Even in Precinct 9 Sweeney did not dominate the vote count; but while not as deep, he was broad, winning 6, 7, 8, and 9.
  • The highest turnout by far as in Precinct 9 in which 41% of the registered voters turned up at the polls as opposed to Precinct 1 where the turnout was only 24%. The other precinct with a notably low turnout was precinct 11 (26%)
