Caleb Hawley & Liz Longley perform at Cafe Blue Hills

Caleb Hawley is a NYC and automobile-based singer-songwriter who is creating quite a buzz across pop, jazz and folk circles with his latest CD, Steps.

A graduate of Berklee College of Music with a degree in Jazz Composition, Hawley has turned some heads with his choice to write and produce decidedly pop-influenced singer-songwriter music. But his success is undeniable with top awards like the John Lennon Songwriting Contest (’09) and the New York Songwriter’s Circle contest (’08, ’09).  Hawley is often compared to Stevie Wonder , James  Taylor, and Raul Midon.  He’s a charming, soft-spoken guitar virtuoso with a great big voice that can sing just about anything.

This past year, Berklee College of Music awarded Liz Longley their highest honor for songwriting, the Scott Benson Scholarship. Her song “Rush” was chosen as the No. 1 song in Berklee’s 2009 Songwriting Competition. The previous year, her song “Whatever Goes Up” was the No. 2 song in the contest. “Whatever Goes Up” also received high marks in Garageband.com’s folk category, garnering the all-time No. 1 spot for best melody and best lyrics. She was recently selected by Berklee College of Music to represent the school at the annual Kennedy Center Conservatory Project in Washington, DC.

The internet has been equally effusive about Longley’s music. Liz was voted the No. 1 all-time female vocalist on Garageband.com in both acoustic & folk categories. Liz and Handy Blues award winner Jim Tullio, teamed-up to write the internet smash, “Naked Trees”. The song became the No. 1 all-time song (amid 3,400 songs) in Garageband.com’s acoustic S/S category in ’06.
