Superintendent Mary Gormley announced the appointment in a letter to Milton parents, facculty and staff. In her letter Ms. Gormley writes:
“I am confident that Ms. Nephew’s experience and education combine to make her immensely qualified to assume the role of Glover Elementary Principal. This experience includes teaching at the elementary school level and middle school level, Grades 6-12 Humanities Director, and extensive curriculum and leadership experiences.”
The choice was made by the Glover Principal Screening Committee. This committee, which included parents, teachers and administrators, evaluated fortyapplications and interviewed nine semifinalists. They were: School Committee Chair Lynda-Lee Sheridan, Assistant Superintendent John Phelan, Principals James Jette and Christine Gerber, ELA Coordinator Martha Sherman, Glover teachers Catherine Maliel, Carolyn O’Connor and Margaret Turner, and parents Becky Padera, Kimberly Zieselman, Julie Freking and Toya Farrar.

(Editorial comment: Ms. Nephew is an inspired choice. She has worked long and hard in the Milton Schools. One of our children had the fortune in be in s. Nephew’s class when she taught writing at the Pierce Middle School. He would tell you she is one of the finest teachers he had in his time at the middle school. Congratulations Ms. Nephew!)
