Todd Greenwood running for Town Assessor

Todd Greenwood has officially announced that he is making another run at a Milton Assessor seat.  He ran unsuccessfully last year against incumbent Thomas Gunning. Gunning was able to hold onto his seat. This time around Greenwood is hoping to unseat incumbent, Kathleen Heffernan.

There are three assessors in town. M. Joseph Manning is the third assessor.

The following was contributed by the candidate:

“People should expect more from their Board of Assessors.   They should expect better access to public information, and more convenience.  There are ways that collaboration with other Town departments can improve also.   Our taxes keep going up year after year, but service levels remain flat.  This has got to change.   The public is tired of getting the same for more.

A case in point: Many Milton residents who have full-time jobs simply do not have the time to visit Town Hall during the middle of the work week to check on meeting schedules or access public information.   It is impractical unless they take time off from work.   Even something as simple and basic as Board member contact information is out of public view.  For example, the Town’s Board of Assessors website page (as March 19, 2010) does not even list the email addresses of the Board members, let alone their phone numbers.

In the upcoming candidate debates, I will be specific about more significant areas for improvement, so please be sure to tune in to Milton Access cable for both the Candidate’s Forum and the Milton League of Women’s Voters candidate’s debates.
