Dear Milton Neighbor,

I want to let you know about a design public hearing that will be held this Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the Milton Public Library regarding the proposed Rehabilitation of Central Avenue from Brook Road to Maple Street.

I’ve pushed pretty hard to help provide state investment in revitalizing this small business district and adjacent area.  I included $1.7 million in the 2005 Transportation Bond Bill for the Central Avenue area, to provide for the resurfacing of roads, the creation of bicycle paths, and the improvement of drainage.  In the fiscal year 2006 Economic Stimulus bill, I secured $1,000,000 for economic revitalization around the Central Avenue Business District.  Significant additional state funds were used for improvements at Milton Village, and along the adjacent trolley line.  This public investment has helped leverage significant private investment that has enhanced the area.The public hearing notice, as well as other information regarding current projects, can be viewed at: http://www.mhd.state.ma.us/default.asp?pgid=content/hearings/milton_111709&sid=hearing.  I have also taken the liberty of including the notice below.

Notice of a Public Hearing A Design Public Hearing will be held by MassHighway (Project# 604206) to discuss the proposed Rehabilitation of Central Avenue from Brook Road to Maple Street in Milton, MA.
WHERE:	Milton Public Library Basement Conference Room 476 Canton Avenue Milton, MA 02186	WHEN:	Tuesday November 17, 2009 at 7:00 P.M.
PURPOSE:	The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed Rehabilitation of Central Avenue from Brook Road to Maple Street project. All views and comments made at the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.
PROPOSAL:	The proposed project consists of the rehabilitation of Central Avenue from Brook Road to Maple Street. The project includes full-depth roadway reclamation, cold planning and overlay, drainage improvements, signs, and pavement markings. Also included is the creation of a two-way multi-use path along the east side of the road and connecting to the Lower Neponset River Trail. Shared accommodations for all users have been provided in accordance to applicable guidelines.
