National Teen Driver Week
Dear students, this week is National Teen Driver Week.  Did you know that having one passenger doubles your risk of having a fatal car crash, and that having more than 3 quadruples it?  Drive safe.

  • Habitat For Humanities:  Habitat For Humanities will have a meeting after school on today in room 232.
  • College Fair: The Quincy Public School’s Guidance Counselors will host a College Fair at the North Quincy High School Gymnasium, 316 Hancock Street, Quincy from 6:00 to 8:00 pm today, Juniors and Seniors from surrounding communities are invited.
  • Step Squad: The Step Squad will meet at 2:45 in room 239 today. This meeting is for steppers only and attendance is mandatory.

  • French Club: there will be a French Club meeting today at 2:30 in room 306. All are welcome!
  • C C C: The Three C’s fashion show tryouts will be today and Wednesday in the cafeteria from 2:30-4:00.Community service is available for those who participate.  Please be on time.
  • Spanish Club: Spanish Club members attending the day of the Dead field trip must pass in their signed permission slips as soon as possible. There will be a meeting Wednesday directly after school to work out the details of our lesson.
  • Art Club: There will be an art club meeting on Wednesday from 2:20-3:00 in room 106. We will work on our paintings and discuss the two major upcoming events. There will not be a morning meeting this week.
  • FBLA: There will be a FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) meeting on Wednesday after school in room 301. It is not too late to join if you are considering membership.” Any questions contact Mr. Amar in room 301.”
  • Pep Rally: There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday and Thursday during activity period in room 122 for any Senior interested in the Pep Rally.
  • Photography Club: There will be a meeting after school on Thursday in room 211. We will discuss details for the next photo shoot. Bring in picture taken featuring depth of field. New members always welcome!
  • Amnesty International: The Write-a-thon is scheduled for Thursday the 22nd 6:30 to 8:30 in the Teachers Lounge. New Members welcome!
  • Yearbook: Attention Seniors: Your yearbook selections must be made with Hayward photography by Friday, October 23rd. Please use the website or call to choose your senior portrait if you have not done so yet.
  • Irish American Club: There will be a meeting of the Irish American club in Room 118 (Ms McDonough’s Room) on Thursday October 29th.
  • Fall Fling: Tickets may be purchased after school in room 222. Consult flyers or Ms. Crowley with questions.
  • Senior Candids: Any seniors interested in submitting candid photo’s for the yearbook may do so in the face book group “Yearbook Candids 2010”. If you do not have a face book account, you may give a photo to be scanned to Ms. McDonough or Mrs. Burns. The pictures must be appropriate for the yearbook and the administration and faculty will have access to viewing the face book page.
  • Key Club: October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Key Club is raising money for the Breast Cancer Foundation through the sale of long sleeve shirts with a special logo. The shirts are $15.00 and will be sold at lunches. $8.50 from the sale of each shirt will go to the foundation. For more information, see Mrs. Donnelly in room 243 before or after school.

Employment Opportunity

Employment Opportunity: Papa Gino’s at 748 Gallivan Blvd in Dorchester is looking for help after school and on weekends. Any student who is interested may call Jason or Rosie at 617-282-2404 to arrange an interview

Community Service Opportunities

Carriage House: The Carriage House School is looking for help at its Halloween Festival on October 24th from 9am-3pm. See Ms. Wright to sign up.

Tucker After School Program: The Tucker After School Program is accepting used Legos.  If you would like to earn community service hours please donate!!! See Amanda Giammarco or Vincent Ryan for details.

Teens for Tzedek Literacy Corps: Looking for a rewarding and fun experience?  Help a child learn to read by joining the Teens for Tzedek Literacy Corps, a partnership program of the JCC’s of Greater Boston Teens for Tzedek program and the JCRC’s Telem teen service initiative. Information is located in the Main Office.
