2009 Celebration for Education Set for Saturday, November 21st

Celebration for Education

Celebration for Education

Up and Away: Beyond the Basics” is the theme of the 11th Annual Celebration for Education to be held on Saturday, November 21, at Lombardo’s in Randolph. Sponsored by the Milton Foundation for Education, this is the town’s biggest annual fundraiser for the public schools. The popular Casino Night format which was introduced last year will be back, with guests having an opportunity to try their hand at games like Black Jack, Roulette and Bingo. The evening will still include the popular Silent and Live Auctions, as well as great food, music, dancing and raffles.

Erika Donahue, one of this year’s co-chairs, said that Casino Night was a huge hit last year, drawing many more people to Celebration.  This year’s event will have a few new surprises, as well, including a stand up comedian.   Donahue observed that people seem more comfortable with the less formal, more fun format of Casino Night.   “This is the biggest party of the year,” said Donahue.  “You can see all of your friends and the parents of all of your children’s friends.  It’s a great opportunity to catch up with everyone, have a nice evening out, and raise money for our schools.”

While invitations to Celebration will not be mailed until mid-October, plans for this year’s event are well underway.  There was a kickoff party on September 30 at Jackrabbit Design, and organizers are looking for event sponsors, items donated for the auctions, and volunteers to help with everything from room set up to ticket sales to dealing cards at the event.  Mary McLaughlin, the president of the Milton Foundation for Education, appreciates all the work that goes into making this a successful event.  “We are grateful for the incredible generosity of the Milton community,” McLaughlin said.  “Whether you become a sponsor, join our army of volunteers, or buy a ticket to Celebration for Education, your support allows us to offer the Milton public schools resources that would otherwise be out of reach, and that is especially important in these tough economic times.”  For more information, please visit the MFE website at www.miltonfoundationforeducation.org or email miltoncfe2009@gmail.com.
