News release from Office of Senator Brian A. Joyce
Senator Brian A. Joyce (D-Milton) announced the passage of two budget amendments to provide funding for improvements to the Milton Public Library and the Forbes House Museum. The amendments, filed by Joyce, passed the Senate late Tuesday night during the first of several days of debate on the budget.
One amendment provides $55,000 for necessary traffic safety improvements at the Milton Library. The second amendment provides $85,000 for critical repairs to maintain the historic Forbes House Museum. The Forbes House Museum is a Greek Revival mansion built in 1833 for Margaret Perkins Forbes. Today, it is open to the public and contains the antiques and other treasures once owned by the Forbes family.
The amendments were both adopted unanimously. Once the Senate completes its budget deliberations, a joint conference committee will be formed, tasked with reconciling the differences between the final House and Senate budgets. Fiscal Year 2016 begins on July 1, 2015.
