Just in time for the Wakefield Estate’s Dogwood Days June 14-21, their May Stone Soup and Speaker will offer a portrait of estate’s signature tree: Cornus kousa, the Chinese Dogwood. Deb Merriam, the estate’s Landscape Director, will share the intriguing story of this tree and Polly Wakefield’s love affair with the species. Through seed collection and propagation, Polly was able to name and patent 7 different cultivars of this stunning and versatile tree. The May Stone Soup and Speakers events will be held Thursday, May 28th from 5:30-7:00 pm. These warm and casual programs begin with a bowl of tasty home-made soup, followed by a short presentation by the featured speaker. Space IS limited. Pre-registration is required. To RSVP or for more information, please call 617-333-0924×22.
