April programs at the MPL: Knitting, movies, a poetry reading & more

During the month of April, the Milton Public Library is offering a lot of fun programs for adults and families.  Events will be held in the Keys Community Room and times are listed below.

“Knitting with Nina” continues on Saturday, April 18th at 10 AM so join Nina Zonnevylle for an informal drop-in session and bring your project.

On Monday, April 27th, at 6:30 PM (promptly), there will be a free showing of the documentary called “Girl Rising.”  Come and be inspired by girls from around the world who are struggling to get an education.  Hear their personal stories and share them with your daughters.  This movie was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2014 for Outstanding Documentary.  You will not forget this film!

Then on Tuesday, April 28th at 7 PM, in honor of National Poetry Month, local poet Dorothy Morris will be joined by authors Sam Cornish and Dave Connolly.  All will read their poems and there will be discussion and book signing of Ms. Morris’ new book called God Lights His Candles: Poems.  And on Thursday, April 30th at 7 PM, artist Laurinda O’Connor will offer a workshop on painting silk scarves just in time for Mothers Day.  Class size is limited to 20, so please register for this event at www.miltonlibrary.org    The program is for adults only, and there is an $8 materials fee that will be collected at the door.

Looking ahead to May, there will be a concert on Saturday, May 2nd at 2 PM with the Quincy Choral Society called “Swingin’ into Spring” which will feature songs by George Gershwin, Duke Ellington and Jimmy Van Heusen.  This free musical event will include many Milton residents so please come out and get in the mood for spring!

 

And don’t forget that The Job Doctor Roni Noland will be returning to the second floor of thelibrary on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 to noon starting on April 15th.  This is a free consultation to assist job seekers with resumes, cover letters, searches and interviewing.  It is a walk-in service only and no signups are required.  For more information, contact the Reference Department.
