Screening in Honor of Holocaust Memorial Day

Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills, along with The Thomas Crane Quincy Public Library and the Quincy Jewish Committee, invite all to a free viewing of “Rafting to Bombay” on Thursday evening, April 16, 7-9 p.m. at the Thomas Crane Library Community Room, 40 Washington St., Quincy.

Seating is limited to 125 people, and there is parking in the library lot.

The film is being shown in honor of Yom Hashoah/Holocaust Memorial Day because of its present-day connection to the Holocaust. While filming his father revisiting his childhood city of Mumbai, India, Erez Laufer finds himself caught in the worst terrorist attack in the history of the city. As the drama unfolds, the Laufer family recounts how they found refuge there in the 1940s after fleeing the Nazis. Past and present collide as the family history is echoed in a contemporary war, and a little-known story emerges of the Jewish refugees who found a safe haven in Mumbai during World War II.

Cong. Beth Shalom is pleased to co-sponsor the film with the Crane Library and the Quincy Jewish Committee. For more information, contact the Library at 617-376-1300 or Cong. Beth Shalom at 617-698-3394, email office@BethShalomBlueHills.org or visit www.BethShalomBlueHills.org.
